What are the dates and times of the Cake Show?
The Cake Show is open to the public from 10:00am to 5:00pm on Saturday and Sunday, March 21 – 22, 2020.
Classes begin Friday, March 20th and run through Sunday, March 22, 2020.
Friday Classes: 11:00am – 7:00pm
Saturday Classes: 8:00am – 5:00pm
Sunday Classes: 8:00am – 3:00pm
Competition Check-in takes place Friday, March 20th from 3:00pm to 8:00pm. Cake Entry pick up takes place March 22nd after the conclusion of the Awards Ceremony (after 4pm).
Awards Ceremony will be on Sunday, March 22nd starting at 4:00pm
Where is the Cake Show?
The Exhibit Hall at The Del Mar Fairgrounds, 2260 Jimmy Durante Blvd, Del Mar, CA
How much does it cost to attend the Cake Show?
Tickets for the 37th Annual San Diego Cake Show are $24.00 for a weekend ticket (entrance for both Saturday & Sunday to “The Show”) and $12 for a one day ticket (entrance for either Saturday or Sunday to “The Show”). Children 8 and under free. Anyone signed up for the Cake Competition will receive a Weekend Ticket with their competition registration
Does it cost to park at the Del Mar Fairgrounds?
Yes, parking fees are:
Autos and Motorcycles are $15 and RV’s are $23. Preferred Credit Cards are now accepted for parking. New Del Mar Fairgrounds Parking Rates took effect January 1, 2019.
Note: The Del Mar Fairgrounds can change these rates. We will of course try to keep this as updated as possible.
Will there be any events for children?
Yes! Children are encouraged to enter the cake competition, they have their very own competition separated by age divisions. There will be also be hands-on mini classes that kids are welcome to attend as well as a cupcake and cookie decoration area.
I’m coming from out of town, where should I stay?
We will arrange special pricing just for you with a local hotel. That information will appear and be updated on the Accommodations page.

Does the Del Mar Fairground rent or provide wheel chairs, scooters, or strollers?
No, the Del Mar Fairgrounds does not provide or rent wheel chairs, scooters, or strollers.
Why does my order say "Processing" when I've already paid?
Once you place your order and have paid in via paypal your order status will change to “Completed”. You will receive an email with your order details & Tickets at that time. If you pay using the payment plan, once the payments have been completed we will change your order to “Complete” and at that time your tickets (if applicable) will be emailed.
When will I get my tickets?
Once you place your order and have paid in via paypal your order status will change to “Completed”. You will receive an email with your order details & tickets at that time. If you pay using the payment plan, once all the payments have been processed we will change your order to “Complete” then we will then send you an additional email with your tickets.
The subject line on that email will be: “Your San Diego Cake Show Tickets” – in case you need to search for them. If you have not received them within 72 hours of your completed order, please search your spam/junk mail folder for an email with the subject line “Your San Diego Cake Show Tickets”. If you still can’t find them please email us at email@example.com with the email address and name used to place the order and we will resend them.
When are the classes?
Full day classes are on Friday, half day and mini classes are on Saturday and Sunday.
Friday Full Day Classes: 11:00am to 7:00pm
Saturday Half Day Classes: 8:00am to 5:00pm
Sunday Half Day Classes: 8:00am to 3:00pm
Mini Classes: 10:30am to 4:30pm on Saturday and 10:30am to 3:00pm on Sunday
Who can sign up for the classes?
Everyone! We offer a variety of classes for every skill level.
Are kids allowed to take classes?
For Mini Classes – Yes, children 11 and up are allowed to sign up for any of the Mini Classes. Children 10 and younger can also take any of the Mini Classes but should be accompanied by a paid Adult.
For the Full Day & Half Day Classes –Yes, children 13 and up are allowed to sign up for any of the Half or Full Day Classes. Children 12 and younger can also take any of the Half or Full Day Classes but should be accompanied by a paid Adult.
Our “Mission” is to promote and encourage cake decorating and ALL confectionery arts to everyone!
What is the difference between the full day, half day and mini classes?
The full day classes are in-depth, mostly hands-on classes that teach one large specific project or technique. The half day classes can vary from kids classes to advanced hands-on project based classes. The mini classes are a quick hands-on class and are meant to teach one specific skill.
Am I able to sign up for a class on the day of the class?
All full and half day classes must be purchased in advance because these classes are usually hands-on projects the teachers need to know their attendance numbers in order to bring supplies for each student. You will be able to sign up for the mini classes on the day of the class if there is space available. We will have tickets for sale for any mini class that is not sold out at the venue on the day of the event.
** Please note: In some instances the Teachers will allow sign ups on the day, but this is not guaranteed. We highly recommend signing up in advance to guarantee your seat and to avoid disappointment.
How much do the classes cost?
The classes vary in price. Please visit the classes page to see the cost of each class. Please Note: The class price does not include admission to the show. Admission Tickets must be purchased separately.
Is there a Payment Plan available to pay for classes?
Yes, we do have a payment plan. You will be invoiced for your class total via a Paypal Invoice you will receive to the email address used to place the order. When you receive the Invoice you will have the option to partial pay the invoice or pay the invoice in full. The minimum amount due for the first payment will be 1/3 of your total and is due immediately. You may then access your invoice (using the same paypal email link) and continue to make payments, in any amount and as often as you prefer, until your invoice is paid in full. Invoices must be paid in Full by February 14, 2020. No refunds, transfers, or alterations to your order are available with the payment plan. Failure to pay your Invoice in full by February 14, 2020 forfeits all monies paid.
What is your class refund policy?
Refunds & Transfers are available until January 6, 2020. After January 6, 2020 refunds are not available. Classes are transferable when possible until February 1, 2020 – please notify us as soon as possible of any changes.
The Show organizers reserve the right to cancel classes or demonstrations. If a class or demonstration is canceled, you will have the option to transfer to another class or receive a full refund. All remedies under this refund policy are limited to the language of refund policy.
What is the Cake Competition?

Does the “Around The World In 80 Cakes” theme apply to the entire competition?
No. The show theme ONLY applies to the Spectacular Cake Competition. Please read the Official Rules for all rules and regulations.
What is your cake competition refund policy?
Competition entry fees are non-refundable and non-transferable at any time.
When can I pick up my Cake entry?
Cake Entry pick up takes place March 22nd after the conclusion of the Awards Ceremony (after 4pm).
How do I know if my cake entry won?
The Awards Ceremony will be on Sunday, March 22nd starting at 4:00pm at the Main Stage Area.
